Hysteria Festival

A scene to question, express and transform.

From the National Center for the Arts, and under the leadership of Xiomara Suescún, Hysteria is born, a festival that focuses on the voices of women and gender dissidents in the performing arts.

We open up real spaces for conversation to challenge the violence and inequalities that persist in the cultural sector.

How do we represent feminist narratives in the arts? Hysteria appropriates Débora Arango's work Adolescence to redefine historical stigmas: the body, feeling, and hysteria are no longer burdens, they are powers. The heart that once ached, now burns.

Hysteria managed to connect with the March 8th protests and project its essence through video mapping. A necessary commitment to imagining other ways of inhabiting the scene.
